1. I continue to take you, ___________, to be my wife/husband

from this day forward,

to continue to join with you and share all that is to come,

and I promise to be faithful to you until death parts us.



2. I continue to take you, ______, to be my wife/husband, and these things I promise you:

I will be faithful to you and honest with you;

I will respect, trust, help, and care for you;

I will share my life with you;

I will forgive you as we have been forgiven;

and I will try with you better to understand ourselves, the world, and God;

through the best and worst of what is to come until death parts us.


3. I continue to take you, _____, to be my wife/husband. 

I promise before God and these witnesses to be your faithful wife,/husband

to continue to share with you in plenty and in want,

in joy and in sorrow,

in sickness and in health,

to forgive and strengthen you,

and to join with you so that together we may serve God and others

as long as be both shall live.


4.__________, I continue to take you to be my wife/husband

from this time onward,

to continue to join with you and to share all that is to come,

to give and to receive,

to speak and to listen,

to inspire and to respond,

and in all circumstances of our life together

to be loyal to you with my whole life

and with all my being until death parts us.


5. The couple face each other and join hands

The bridegroom takes the bride's right hand in his and says:

I,__________ , continue to take you __________

to be my wife,

to have and to hold

from this day forward;

for better, for worse,

for richer, for poorer,

in sickness and in health,

to love and to cherish,

till death us do part,

according to God's holy law;

and this is my solemn vow.


They loose hands.

The bride takes the bridegroom's right hand in hers, and says:


I, _________, continue to take you ___________

to be my husband,

to have and to hold

from this day forward;

for better, for worse,

for richer, for poorer,

in sickness and in health,

to love and to cherish,

till death us do part,

according to God's holy law;

and this is my solemn vow.


6. "Once before I have stood with you before family and friends;

once again I take your hand as my partner.

(Name), I take you this day and for all days as my (husband/wife)."


7. "I am proud to marry you this day.

I promise to wipe away your tears with my laughter, a

nd your pain with my caring and my compassion.

We will wipe clean the old canvases of our lives

and let God, with His amazing artistic talent, f

ill them with new color, harmony and beauty.  I

give myself to you completely, and I

promise to love you always, from this day forth."


8. I believe in this marriage more strongly than ever.

(Name), it is with joy born of experience and t

rust that I commit myself once again to be your (husband/wife).


9. I, (name), give to you, (name), a new promise

and yet not so new; a new (husband/wife),

and yet not so new; and a new affirmation of love

from the heart that has loved you for (?) years and

will love you for as many more as God allots to it.


10. Today ________, I continue to join my life to yours,

Not merely as your husband/wife,

But as your best friend, your lover, and your soul mate.

I promise to love you, comfort and encourage you,

Listen to you and to keep an open mind,

Be open, honest and respectful of you,

Sacrificing my pride to be your strength, your joy, and your breath,

Through all the blessings and trials of life.


11. The word renaissance means rebirth;

today we celebrate the rebirth of our commitment

before this honoured gathering.

12. Perhaps the only thing truer than one's first love

is to recommit to that love before family and friends.
